"I suffer from a condition called Trictillomania which has affected me for over 25 years. This condition makes gives me an urge to pull out my eyelashes and eyebrows hairs until I have none left.

It started when I was a child and I would pull my eyelashes when I felt upset. This really affected my confidence as I grew up as I was teased by other children due to having no eyelashes. My only reaction was to hide away and pull out more hairs. This grew into a habit during my teens and adult life and spread to me pulling my eyebrows as well.

I have tried many ways to cover up this embarrassing habit, including using make up and false eyelashes, both of which rub off and do not look as natural as I would like. I have also tried medication to deal with the accompanying depression, hypnotherapy, and counselling to try and help me understand my condition. None of this has worked very well and has proved costly and time consuming.

I heard about semi permanent make up and cosmetic tattooing on the internet and after some research into the treatments available I made an appointment with Susan Coombes.

I was very nervous and worried before I met Susan, in case she had not heard of my condition. But I had nothing to worry about as Susan had heard about Trictillomania and was also very friendly which put me at ease. I even felt confident enough to show her the extent of my problem by removing my make up.

By the end of the consultation, Susan had discusses my needs and what I wanted to achieve by having semi permanent make up and also how the enhancement would look when she had finished. I was so excited by the consultation’s results I booked an appointment for the treatment a couple of weeks later to have both eyebrow and eyelash enhancements.

On the day of the procedure I arrived feeling a little nervous, but was made to feel very comfortable, I was also quite excited. Following consent for treatment, I was taken through and given local aesthetic which was slightly uncomfortable but not painful. The procedure itself was not uncomfortable at all. I would go through it again.

I had to be very careful in looking after my enhancements for a couple of weeks after the treatment. My eyes were a bit swollen for the first 48 hours and I could not wear any make up for the first 3 days. But within the first week I noticed my eyes looking more defined and the lovely shape that Susan had given my eyebrows.

I now receive regular compliments on how nice my make up and eyebrows look. I feel much more confident and happy about my appearance. I do not even have to use make up some days which I would never had thought possible a few months ago.
